THE SOVEREIGN DROP 024 — On The Two Things
Not a newsletter, but a ritual. One drop each week. Distilled wisdom for the whole man.
Field Note: On The Two Things
I've had the privilege of attending a lot of funerals. Dozens, actually. And every single time as family and friends speak about the person who's gone, something incredible happens.
A pattern emerges. Without fail.
This isn’t by design or coordination, but because people who loved the same person, independently, land on the same two things.
He was so generous. Story, story, story. She always made you feel seen. Story, story, story. He'd give you his last dollar and never mention it again. Story, story, story.
Two things. Always two.
Sometimes stated directly.
Sometimes carried through a dozen stories until the entire room understands.
But always two.
A life, distilled.
We get one shot at this life. There are no re-do's.
What will be so true of you that the room can't stop saying it when you're gone?
QUESTION
If your life ended today, what would the two things most said of you be?
What would you want them to be?
INTEGRATION
This week, name your two things and write them down.
Examine whether the way you're living right now is building toward these two things or moving away from them.
If there's a gap, get on it.
BENEDICTION
Live like the eulogy is already being written.
Because it is.
I believe in what you are becoming.
